Who we are

够用英语 (talkenough.com, “the site”) is an English-learning website that helps Chinese speakers living overseas cope with everyday situations. It is operated by Object IT Limited, a company registered in New Zealand (NZBN 9429031476065) (“we”, “us”). By using the site you agree to these terms; if you do not agree, please do not use it.

Beta version

The site is currently a beta version covering only some situations and countries. Its content, features and addresses may change, and it may be paused or taken down. Your learning progress is stored only in your browser: it is lost if you clear your browser data or change phone or browser, and we cannot recover it.

For learning and reference only

• The site teaches English and publicly available general information only. It is not medical, legal, immigration or other professional advice. For important matters, such as seeing a doctor, signing a contract or dealing with official procedures, rely on official information and the advice of qualified professionals.
• Information about how things work locally (for example, how to see a doctor or return goods) may be out of date or differ between regions; the verification dates shown on pages are for reference only.
• In an emergency, call the local emergency number straight away (111 in New Zealand, 000 in Australia, 911 in the United States) rather than checking this site first.
• The Chinese phonetic hints are only an aid to help you start speaking. They differ from real pronunciation; follow the audio.

Acceptable use

You may use the site free of charge for learning. You agree not to:

• use the problem report feature to send advertising, spam, unlawful or offensive content, or other people’s personal information;
• scrape or copy the site’s content in bulk by automated means, or interfere with, attack or overload the site;
• use the site’s content for commercial purposes, or impersonate the site or us.

Intellectual property

The text, phonetic hints, audio and design of the site belong to us or our licensors. You may use and print them for your own learning and share them with friends, but please do not turn them into your own product or sell them.

By sending content through the problem report feature, you grant us a free licence to use it to improve the site’s content, including by editing and publishing it.

Third-party links

The site links to government and other third-party websites. Those websites are the responsibility of their operators; we are not responsible for their content, accuracy or privacy practices.

Disclaimer and liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the site is provided “as is”. We do not guarantee that its content is accurate, complete or up to date, or that the site will always be available. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of, or inability to use, the site.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any right, guarantee or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including, where they apply, rights under the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and Fair Trading Act 1986, the Australian Consumer Law, and any mandatory consumer protection law where you live.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, and we will highlight significant changes on the site. If you keep using the site after a change, you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of New Zealand, and the courts of New Zealand have non-exclusive jurisdiction. This does not affect any mandatory consumer protection rights you have where you live.

Language

These terms are written in English. The Chinese version is a translation provided for convenience; if the two differ, the English version prevails.
